Seventy-Five Men Complete Transition Process and Graduate From Newark Now Fathers Now Program

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 18, 2010
– Mayor Cory Booker’s message of providing men who are in transition with the fundamental skills to be sustainable parts of their families is evident in Newark Now’s Father’s Now program. This Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 11AM, seventy-five men who have successfully completed the program at the Newark Comprehensive Center for Fathers (NCCF) will be honored in a graduation ceremony. The ceremony will feature performances from spoken word artist and Essex County College student, Elijah Brown, as well as the Newark Boys Chorus.

The Newark Comprehensive Center for Fathers is headquartered at Essex County College; it is a replication site of the Philadelphia-based National Comprehensive Center for Fathers. Newark Now administers NCCF and Fathers Now in partnership with the City of Newark, NewarkWorks, New Jersey Department of Labor, New Jersey Legal Services, and Relese Network.

Notes To Editors: On February 25, 2010, Father’s Now will also host the screening premier for the documentary “Man-Up: The Exploration of a Fatherless Nation” at the Newark Museum auditorium. The VIP reception begins at 5:00pm with the screening at 7:00pm.
