Newark, NJ – Newark, NJ – Today from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30p.m. Members of Newark’s Lincoln Park community will host the first annual GREEN THE BLOCK DAY, sponsored by FEMWORKS, Newark’s premier multicultural marketing agency and the company’s newest service ComeUnity Wire(SM), the go-to news source for all things Newark.

Neighborhood organizations and businesses have partnered with FEMWORKS to open their doors to visitors and perform community service projects. Newark enthusiasts can take a walking tour of Lincoln Park’s neighborhood landmarks. Guided by Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District staff, walking tour participants can follow along via the ComeUnity Wire Facebook fan page or via cell phone by registering to receive ComeUnity Wire text messages. Text messages will feature information about each tour location, highlighting Lincoln Park’s hidden gems and future developments.

“FEMWORKS has gone green. Now, we’re educating our neighbors to adopt energy efficient practices. This event will unite our community in a way that has never been done before in Newark; a City that is positioned to be a leader in the “green” movement,” explained Kimberlee S. Williams, FEMWORKS Principal, Marketing Director and developer of ComeUnity Wire. “GREEN THE BLOCK is a progressive step in taking back our community to make it a safer, cleaner and greener environment.”

GREEN THE BLOCK is part of a national campaign steered by the Hip Hop Caucus and Green for All that educates and mobilizes low-income communities and communities of color to ensure they have a voice and stake in the clean-energy economy.
