Newark, NJ February 24, 2010 – The premier of “Man Up: The Exploration of a Fatherless Nation” that was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25, at 6:00pm at the Newark Museum has been rescheduled due to impending severe inclement weather. The rescheduled date and time is Thursday, March 4th, 2010 at the Newark Museum auditorium at 6:00pm. Fathers Now produced this FREE community program in an effort to encourage conversations that rebuild the bonds and responsibility of fatherhood in Newark.

Seventy-Five Men Complete Transition Process and Graduate From Newark Now Fathers Now Program

– Mayor Cory Booker’s message of providing men who are in transition with the fundamental skills to be sustainable parts of their families is evident in Newark Now’s Father’s Now program. This Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 11AM, seventy-five men who have successfully completed the program at the Newark Comprehensive Center for Fathers (NCCF) will be honored in a graduation ceremony. Fathers Now Hosts the Documentary Premier of “Man-Up: The Exploration of a Fatherless Nation”

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 18, 2010 - Newark Comprehensive Center for Fathers (“Fathers Now”) has teamed up with Newark Museum and Gradygirl Productions to present the documentary premier of “Man Up: The Exploration of a Fatherless Nation” for FREE on Thursday, Feb. 25, 6:00pm at the Newark Museum auditorium. Fathers Now produced this FREE community program in an effort to encourage conversations that rebuild the bonds and responsibility of fatherhood in Newark. “It’s necessary for fathers to hear the hurt from their children as part of the healing process,” adds LaVar Young the director of Fathers Now. “Man-Up uncovers the fatherless epidemic that’s affecting the African American community.” The post-screening program will include a panel discussion featuring film director and executive producer Tonia Grady, music industry executive and author of “Be A Father to Your Child”, Bill Stephney, and Fathers Now Director, LaVar Young. Dads Rediscover Rites of Passage Fatherhood Program

The Fathers Now program at Newark’s Comprehensive Center for Fathers graduated over 60 men from its program and has an employment placement rate of almost 70%.The Fathers Now program at Newark’s Comprehensive Center for Fathers graduated over 60 men from its program and has an employment placement rate of almost 70%.

Since his divorce, Kevin Robinson talks to his kids more and he’s more dedicated to being in their lives. But it wasn’t always so amicable. “I went through a period where I was confused. I was separated from my children for about six months. I had to learn to deal with my ex.” At 49, Robinson, is evolving, and he credits Newark Now’s Comprehensive Center for Fathers for the changes he’s made.

Last year, Robinson was a part of the first class of 20 men that completed the center’s fatherhood program in Newark. And in February the men from the first four classes marched in an official graduation ceremony. The program is an extension of the National Comprehensive Center for Fathers in Philadelphia.
